Torque inspections within the transport industry are a critical requirement to prove compliance and protect your business.
LHS Services offer the Inspection, Certification, Calibration and Servicing of all Torque Wrenches to torque values from 1nm to 2000nm on site or in-house.
We also supply a wide range of Torque Tools, Torque Multipliers and Torque Testing Systems.
We inspect torque tools to maintain consistent accuracy, torque wrenches must be checked periodically for wear or defective parts. A properly structured preventive maintenance program such as CLASS optimizes tool performance and reduces unexpected downtime, thereby saving time and money.
- Calibration checks including dismantling for high frequent use
- Repair, re-calibration and certification of all torque tool types
- Exchange system of factory rebuilt torque tools
- Consultancy regarding torque/measurement testing equipment
- Supply of torque measurement and testing equipment
The calibration integrity of torque wrenches depends largely on the use and environment of which the tool is subjected. In test conditions the torque wrench should remain within the tolerances laid down by BS EN ISO 6789:2003 for at least 5000 cycles. However, this may be reduced by dust causing wear, or by using the tool to loosen fasteners which can lead to damage, or by dropping the unit regularly.
Providing your operators are trained in the use of torque wrenches, and the manufacturer’s instructions are followed, a period of 6 months is reasonable for torque wrenches in non-safety critical areas. Talk to LHS Services about your training needs.
A risk assessment will highlight issues when working with torque wrenches such as:
- Rubber handles slipping or coming off the wrench
- Ratchet or sprocket failing or coming adrift off the wrench
- Cam rivet failure of the wrench
- Incorrect connection with the bolt/nut or bolt shear
Lifting and Handling also offer a Service Exchange Service, where we can supply you with a replacement torque wrench and remove your failed torque wrench from service. We also have service exchange units that we can provide you with while your torque wrench is at our workshop for inspection/calibration/repair.
